Tobermory Engagement Photos
Kasia reached out to us after researching engagement photos in Tobermory and Bruce Peninsula National Park and coming across the Tobermory engagement photos of Carly and Mike. While Kasia and Kyle had never been there before, Kasia had seen photos of the Grotto and the clear blue water of Georgian Bay and fell in love with the idea of capturing her engagement photos surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. And since Tobermory is a 3.5 hour drive north from Toronto, Kasia and Kyle made a weekend out of it and checked themselves into a hotel to properly enjoy everything Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula have to offer, which requires much more than just a couple of hours.
When we first met Kasia and Kyle in Tobermory village to start their engagement shoot, you could tell they were excited and eager to get started. We immediately went to explore the harbour, where we walked along the dock and wondered if we’d get lucky enough again to be allowed to take pictures with one of the boats docked there (Carly and Mike lucked out and got to climb aboard a boat for some photos). While we didn’t have the same such luck this time around, we got super lucky with the weather. It was a beautiful, yet breezy, sunny day, with not a single cloud in the sky, and the blue of the sky reflected in the water, giving it a rich navy blue hue. We couldn’t wait to see what the colour of the water was going to look like in Bruce Peninsula National Park and all around the Grotto. Last time we were there, the skies were grey and the water wasn’t in its full blue potential - we were all excited.
Arriving at the Bruce Peninsula National Park, we set out exploring and hiking toward the Grotto, and hike we did. We had been following a wooden path through a beautiful wooded area, where beams of light shone through the dense forest canopy, until we reached rocky shores, however, we weren’t anywhere near the Grotto yet. Believing we had to just follow the shoreline to reach the Grotto, we clambered over the rocks for quite a while, which wasn’t an easy tasks, especially for Kasia who was only wearing sandals.
When we finally found the Grotto, it was crowded with families, and in this current Covid environment we decided it was better to keep moving to a more secluded area and come back to the Grotto for the sunset, when most families had already left. This was definitely a great decision as just a little further out we were able to escape the crowds and still enjoy the breathtaking views from the cliffs looking over Georgian Bay. The water was as blue as we had imagined, and the colours in the sky were starting to shift to warmer hues as the sun had just started to set - it was the perfect opportunity for Kasia and Kyle to cozy up for their portraits while enjoy the sunset views.
Once the sun was close to the horizon, we started to make our way back as we did not want to make the trek back through the dark. As we got to the Grotto on our way back, almost all the visitors had already left and we were treated to a stunning golden sunset from atop the Grotto. After braving the cliffs for a few more sunset engagement photos, we rushed back, racing against the final rays of sun, stopping for just one final look across the water as the sun disappeared. Kasia and Kyle, thank you for going out on this adventure with us and braving the rocky shores and steep cliffs of Bruce Peninsula National Park. We hope the rest of your mini engagement-weekend getaway was just as fantastic!
