Stepping inside Hacienda Sarria to capture Cierra and Matt’s wedding was like stepping inside a luxurious Spanish dream. Every little detail at Hacienda is reminiscent of a lavish old-world Spanish style put together with much love and care to ensure that every couple has the most spectacular and personal experience, and the most amazing wedding photos, of course. It’s a wedding photographer’s dream. Every room we stepped into made us oo and awe – even stepping outside, passing by the Romeo and Juliet balcony, past the fountains and through the iron gates, onto the patio, where you can follow the path of a centuries-old walk called “The Road to Santiago de Compostela”, we couldn’t help but immediately forget that we were in fact in the center of Kitchener, Ontario.
Hacienda Sarria used to actually be a sugar beet mill that was constructed in 1902, and while the mill itself was short lived, the sweetness of the property lives on with each couple that creates their wedding day memories at Hacienda, and we just couldn’t wait to start capturing memories for Cierra and Matt!
The morning of Cierra and Matt’s wedding was chill and relaxed. When I arrived at Matt’s hotel room, he was lounging on the bed waiting for his boys to arrive. No stress and all smiles. Once all the boys arrived, beers were brought out and all the guys just hung out, listened to music, chatted, and snapped some photos - Matt’s dad put the final touches to his speech, while the best man, Matt’s brother, did a practice run through his own speech to calm his nerves.
Once the guys actually started to get dressed, the pace changed. Matt’s dad and brother were joined by Cierra’s dad in helping Matt put on his cufflinks, bow tie, and jacket, while the rest of the guys got dressed in super speed, but that was only until they had to face the dreaded pocket square, which left almost everyone stumped! After multiple attempts and folds, everyone was ready to go.
Cierra got ready at the elegant bridal suite at Hacienda Sarria, surrounded by her closest girlfriends, her sister and her mom, and Matt’s sister and mom. Everyone was so giddy as the girls finalized some final wedding day details, got their hair and make-up done by the lovely Hilary Grimm (MUA) and Amanda Weldon (Hairstylist), and popped open a bottle of bubbly. Cierra was super excited to show off her wedding dress from The Modern Bride, by the Spanish designer, Pronovias, so once everyone’s hair and make-up was ready and the girls finished enjoying the wedding brunch provided by Hacienda, Cierra was ready to put on her dress and show it off to the girls – the reactions were priceless!!
The best reaction of the day though was when Matt finally got to see his beautiful bride walk down the aisle. Standing inside the Ballroom, with all his family and friends showing their love and support, he couldn’t hold back the tears as he watched Cierra, accompanied by her dad, make her way towards him, beaming with excitement. The ceremony, officiated by Matt’s aunt, was short but oh so sweet. Cierra and Matt just couldn’t stop smiling as they said their I do’s. Walking out hand in hand as husband and wife, they were ready to celebrate!
Before joining their family and friends for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, Cierra and Matt joined us outside, at Hacienda’s gardens and patio for their couple portraits. We barely had to walk anywhere, as Hacienda’s grounds are so beautiful that everywhere we looked was an opportunity for a stunning portrait. Inside, Cierra and Matt had a few quiet moments to themselves to enjoy a sangria, rest their feet, and kick back a bit before stepping out onto the courtyard balcony for their first introduction as husband and wife!
The reception was held at the picturesque courtyard, where the stunning and towering floral and candle centrepieces by Jodi Leigh Designs perfectly complimented the 40 ft. ceiling and bistro lights that hung above the guests. Yet as the sun set outside, that’s when the bistro lights and candles really came to life and gave an ethereal beauty to the space. The evening was spent dining on an amazing meal, listening to family recount hilarious and loving stories about Cierra and Matt, watching Cierra and Matt being gifted a giant tub of sauerkraut, which is sure to last them a lifetime, and tossing a giant dice that may or may result in Cierra and Matt exchanging a kiss, or that may result in the players kissing another wedding guest.
To kick off a night of partying, the guests joined Cierra and Matt back in the Ballroom for their first dance, followed by some funky dance moves from Cierra and her dad, and Matt with his mom. The guests didn’t disappoint either as they kicked up their feet and helped Cierra and Matt dance the night away! Cierra and Matt, thank you so much for all your warmth, kindness, and amazing energy! It was an absolute pleasure! :D
