The modern orthodox Jewish wedding is nothing if not over the top with emotion and energy. Rachel and Jake's wedding at Ahavath Torah in Englewood, NJ was a case in point. I have never photographed a wedding where I had as little space to operate as their wedding. The guests simply needed to be within physical contact of everybody else at all times. Makes for tough picture taking but great energy.
The bedeken, or veiling of the bride (kallah), was simply beautiful. Rachel's father's tender kiss to her head is one of my favorite images from this year. It is a wonderful moment of quiet in an otherwise rambunctious affair. The chuppah was the same, an island of quiet introspection amidst a wild ocean. I live for those quiet moments. It is why I love photographing orthodox Jewish weddings.
And the dancing...never have I seen its match. I think I could have picked my feet up and remained upright the entire night. It was no place for a claustraphobe.
