Mackenzie and Chris stayed close to home for their wedding. Of course, when you live in the historic east end of Pittsburgh there’s no reason to go anywhere else.
After getting ready just down the hall from one another in the new Springhill Suites by Marriott at Bakery Square they headed to their home parish, Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside.
Afterwards, while the guests enjoyed cocktails at the reception site, we went to Frick Park for formal shots with the wedding party and a portrait session with the couple. Again, this site had meaning for Mackenzie and Chris as they spend a lot of time in the park exercising and walking their dog.
When we finished with the portraits we headed down the street to join their guests at the elegant, old mansion that is now home to the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
After an evening of fine food, friendship, and dancing it was time for one last portrait. Coincidentally, that very evening a new art installation premiered in the Walled Garden of Mellon Park, which is adjacent to the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. The Ann Katharine Seamans Memorial, by artist Janet Zweig, consists of fiber optic lights embedded in the ground in the pattern of the stars in the sky at the moment of Ann Seamans’ birth. The project had special meaning to Mackenzie and Chris because they had sponsored “Electra,” one of the stars in the display.
