I’m based in Frederick, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC, and I photograph weddings throughout the United States.  I’m a professionally trained photographer and a graduate of a professional photography program. I spent 10 years working as a photojournalist covering news, sports, and political campaigns—an environment where you learn quickly that the best images aren’t staged. You have to anticipate what’s about to happen, stay calm under pressure, work fast in changing light, and capture real emotion without getting in the way. That documentary foundation is exactly what I bring to weddings.

For the past 25 years, I’ve photographed weddings as a wedding photojournalist, focused on telling the story of your day as it naturally unfolds. My approach is unobtrusive and storytelling. I’m capturing authentic moments, real interactions, and the small in-between details that make your wedding uniquely yours. The result is a collection of images that feels honest, timeless, and full of life.

We’ll make time for couple and family portraits without taking you away from the celebration for too long. I keep them artistic and natural with gentle direction—enough guidance to make you look your best, without stiff posing or long photo sessions that pull you away from your guests. I’ll keep family photos organized and efficient, and help you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Travel is built into my packages to keep planning simple and pricing straightforward. I handle my own flights, lodging, and transportation, so you have one less thing to think about. For any wedding that requires travel, I arrive at least one day early, so I am settled, rested, and ready. I stay close to the venue so I am nearby and accessible. I also travel with redundant gear and multiple backup systems for reliability.

My style is documentary and story-driven, focused on real moments as they naturally unfold. I’m not directing your day or staging scenes, I’m watching for the emotion and connection that’s already there and capturing it in a way that feels honest and timeless. I’m paying attention to the little things that make the story complete, the nervous energy before the ceremony, the quiet support, the reactions during vows, the laughter that happens just off to the side, the in-between moments you didn’t even know were happening.

I work calmly and unobtrusively, staying close enough to anticipate what’s coming next but never in a way that interrupts it. I’m constantly looking for great light, clean backgrounds, and strong composition, so the images feel intentional without feeling posed. The goal is for you to feel like you’re living your wedding day, not performing it, while I capture it as it truly felt.

When it’s time for portraits, I keep everything natural, flattering, and efficient. I give gentle direction that feels easy and normal, small adjustments, where to stand, what to do with your hands, and how to angle your body, so you look your best with relaxed guidance that feels natural and keeps the experience quick and comfortable. Couple portraits are calm and relaxed, more about connection than posing, with simple prompts that create real expressions and natural movement. Family portraits are organized and quick. I keep groups flowing, make sure we get what you need, and keep things moving so you get back to the celebration.
