Sometimes the guests at a modern orthodox Jewish wedding will give you a little hint of what is to come during the dancing early on during the tish. I knew I was in trouble when the guys at Yoni’s tish were more exuberant and crazy than I had seen at this point in a wedding before.
The rest of their wedding did not disappoint.
Beth Tfiloh in Baltimore, where they got married, does not have a great location for portraits but thankfully five minutes away I found a nice little spot that is perfect year round. It is my little secret though. Needless to say, it helped make what is normally a tough portrait session into a great one.
The chuppah also distinguished itself from the norm with their friends singing and humming along. That they didn’t get up and dance in the middle kind of surprised me. But, they sure danced them out from the chuppah, and the party atmosphere only took off from there.
Tali and Yoni’s wedding had everything I love about modern orthodox weddings. Ritual. Energy. Emotion. Spirit. Even a visit from Superman.
