The day actually started out warm as we arrived at Grittleton House, near Chippenham in the Wiltshire countryside, to photograph Lisa and Alex’s wedding. Grittleton House is a delightful venue – it’s actually a private school which operates as a wedding venue ‘out of hours’. It has beautiful well kept grounds – not that we got to enjoy much of them, as shortly before Lisa arrived, the snow started to fall! It turned the already picturesque scene in to a winter wonderland.
The snow continued to fall heavily throughout the marriage ceremony, which took place in the library. After a quick chat with their 150 guests, we all agreed that we’d go outside for a photograph! My assistant photographer, Heidi, did give me a “are you mad” look, as I called out the plan with enthusiasm – basically it involved squeezing all 150 people quickly outside and then back in again as fast as possible! Everyone enjoyed the icy blast, and we were finished within 5 minutes.
A thoroughly memorable day and a truly ‘white wedding’ for Lisa and Alex which gave us some delightful opportunities to photograph both them and their guests in the amazing surroundings, right into the evening.
