Weddings are once in a lifetime events, so it’s not unusual that you may be unfamiliar with all of the traditional planning details of wedding days. A quick Google search can fill you in on the “what to expect” protocol on your wedding day, but we want to go a bit further than that. What are three things that photographers wish you knew before the wedding?
It Doesn’t Matter if Your Photographer Hasn't Worked at Your Venues Before
Professional photographers work at a variety of venues every single year. From indoor banquet halls to outdoor tented events, their job is to make your wedding photos look great no matter if they have worked at that venue once or 50 times. What matters most is that your photographer is a trained professional who understands lighting, composition, and angles. While some photographers will prefer to do a walkthrough of unfamiliar venues if time allows, others like the challenge of working at a new venue and don’t require a walkthrough.
Give Yourself Twice as Much Time as You Think You Need for Getting Ready
Bridesmaids running late, salons running late, traffic, stopping to get a bite to eat; these are just a few of the things that photographers see every week at weddings that cause delays. The more rushed you are in the getting ready process, the less likely you are to have great getting ready photos. A stressed bride or groom doesn’t make for good photos! So always err on the side of more time than less.
The More You Trust Your Vendors, the More You Will Enjoy Your Wedding Day
You want your wedding day to be perfect. You want everything to go just right, for the guests to have a great time, to get amazing photos and to eat and dance the night away. There are a lot of moving parts on a wedding day, and you’ve no doubt hired an excellent vendor crew to help you with this. Here’s what your vendors want you to know on the morning of your wedding: “We’ve got this.” On the day that you are to be married, let go of the reins. Get out of planning mode and get into married mode! The more you enjoy yourself, the better you will look in your photos.
