I’ve photographed weddings in barns, gardens, rustic venues — you name it. But there’s something about the Northampton Guildhall that gets me every single time.
Maybe it’s the sound of heels echoing through those long corridors. Maybe it’s the way the sunlight hits the stained glass and throws rainbow confetti across the walls. Or maybe it’s just knowing that hundreds of love stories have unfolded here before yours. Whatever it is, this place is pure magic — grand, cinematic, and full of heart.
The first time I shot a wedding here, I stood on the steps outside watching guests arrive. Every single one did the same thing: walked through those giant wooden doors, stopped, and whispered, “Wow.”
That’s the Guildhall effect. It’s got that old-world charm modern venues dream about. Think gothic arches, sparkling chandeliers, and stone walls that practically hum with history.
But it’s not just beautiful — it’s warm. Despite all the grandeur, it doesn’t feel stuffy or formal. It feels alive, welcoming, and just a little bit magical. Like the building itself is smiling right along with you.
When I’m shooting a Guildhall wedding, I’m not just chasing perfect portraits — I’m chasing feels.
That quiet moment before the ceremony starts? The deep breath before the music begins? I live for that. Then everything kicks off — laughter, happy tears, nerves, and all that good wedding chaos — and the Guildhall lights up like it’s part of the story.
As a wedding photographer, I've photograph in a documentary style, which means I don’t do much directing. You just be you — and I’ll capture the real, in-between moments that make your day yours. And trust me, the Guildhall knows how to show them off.
There are so many corners of this place I adore:
The Grand Staircase – Nothing beats that “just married” walk down the steps. Pure movie moment.
The Great Hall – Soaring ceilings, dreamy light, and serious royal vibes.
The Balcony – A quiet escape with views of Northampton. Feels like your own little world.
The Arches Outside – Iconic. Classic. Insta-worthy every time.
Even the tiniest details — flickering candles, carved wood, vintage portraits — add layers to your story.
Guildhall weddings have this perfect balance: elegant but never over the top, historic but totally relaxed. Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony or a full-blown party, the space just works. One minute you’re saying your vows under chandeliers, the next you’re laughing outside in the city buzz.
Chase the light. Those stained-glass windows are unreal in early afternoon.
Go for a walk. A quick stroll outside or in the nearby gardens = variety + romance.
Take your time. The best photos happen when you’re not in a rush.
And then there was Tara and Lee — the sweetest couple ever. They tied the knot in the Hall Room with just close family, then stepped outside into the breezy afternoon, laughing under the arches. No rush, no fuss — just pure joy.
It was only a two-hour shoot, but it had everything: emotion, laughter, and that signature Guildhall glow. That’s the magic of this place — every wedding feels like its own little movie.
