Gill Taylor – Gill Taylor Photographer, Stafford, United Kingdom
Gill Taylor was born in Belfast in Northern Ireland but moved to England to be with her husband almost 14 years ago. She first studied photography in high school and, at 15, had quite an extensive kit bag. In her early twenty’s she followed the Irish bike racing, shooting for fun, then hung up her cameras when she got divorced. It was 10 years later that new husband John dragged her into a camera shop and made her buy a digital SLR. She went back to college for laughs and a brush-up on skills, only to find they were still living in the darkroom! Her first digital SLR was a silver Canon 300D (don’t laugh). She still has her original Canon AE-1 which she will never part with. For the last 7 years Gill has been building her business in the UK and Europe, having shot weddings and corporate commissions in England, Wales, Ireland, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In a recent interview, Gill was asked “How did you become a photographer?” Her response: “It’s funny, I never honestly thought I would. When I was studying at college, wedding photography was sniffed at by both students and professors alike. I was almost embarrassed to admit I quite fancied it. I went on a Bron lighting seminar a few years back and bumped into a photographer who needed some web work doing. In return, he allowed me to tag along on a couple of weddings. That led to a firm friendship and a 2 year second-shooting relationship, which was totally invaluable. I like to think of my journey into wedding photography as a very happy accident and something I adore.”

Jeff Dietz – Jeff Dietz Photography, Scranton/Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania
I love my job! My studio is located out of the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Pennsylvania area in a very small town. From this location we have grown into a nationally recognized studio photographing clients all across the country. I started photography by having a vast business background, and was hungry to make my photographic vision match my business success. Although I had been around cameras my entire life, it wasn’t until I discovered some of the great wedding photographers such as Yervant, Jerry Ghionis, Jeff Ascough and fashion greats like Richard Avedon, that I truly fell in love with creating photographs and had to learn everything I could get my hands on. I describe my style as a mix of photojournalism and fashion. The most important feature I look for when creating a photograph is light and a great connection with the couple! I take great pride in assuring that every one of my wedding couples walks away with a beautifully designed one-of-a kind storybook album from their wedding. I have had several images place in the number 1 position in various categories of the ISPWP competitions, and I am honored to take part in this quarter’s judging. I also enjoy teaching workshops for local students as well as providing business workshops for beginners or seasoned professionals. I believe in giving back and I will soon be embarking on the largest charitable project of my life entitled: “1,000 Portraits”.

That energy has now flourished into a successful and award winning wedding photography business. “Weddings are the culmination of emotions of two people expressing their love to each other and the world. Being able to capture that is an amazing feeling.” She is based in south Texas but her business takes her all over the country and beyond.
