Wedding Photographer: Tourine Johnstone, Johnstone Studios, Lake Tahoe Nevada Wedding Photographer
Wedding Description
Jaime and Steve’s wedding ceremony and reception was hosted at a private estate in Fernley, Nevada. It is not often showcased as a destination for weddings and bridal sessions, but the Northern Nevada desert can be beautiful. The estate backed up to miles and miles of uninhabited Federal land creating a very intimate and surreal setting for their vow exchange in front of 150 family and friends.
Jaime and Steve are both high school teachers. They both took an active role in planning the details that went into making this wedding day unique. Jaime even planned the menu and together, they prepared or cooked the main dinner dishes, including an incredible tri tip dish the days leading up to the wedding. They ran out of refrigerator space at their house, so they moved the food to the school cafeteria fridges as more food was prepared. The homemade food was delicious.
Nothing could have deterred these two from exchanging wedding vows on June 13, 2009. Not the beautiful storm clouds looming in the distance as we photographed the groom with his groomsmen before the wedding and not the rain that poured down with such force that it was almost impossible to hear the officiant announce the bride and groom as Mr. & Mrs. Henderson for the first time. We were actually photographing the end of the ceremony with our cameras under our fleece jackets with our 70-200 mm Canon lenses peeking out from underneath our clothes, wildly capturing those important last exchanges before they danced themselves back up the isle.
While many of the wedding day details accented on the tables were whisked away when the initial rains began to fall, nothing could deter the love felt among the family, friends, and wedding party on this stormy wedding day.
