Real Wedding Description
In honor of our ancestry, we incorporated a little bit of Scotland, Australia, Taiwan and a lot of Arkansas in our wedding! We knew we wanted a location that featured the “Natural State” and Arkansas’ beautiful springtime in order to take advantage of the dogwoods, wild plum and cherry trees, all of which bloom in early April. Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs provided the perfect setting. The chapel features a wood, glass and stone structure and the light poured in through the canopy of the surrounding wooded landscape on the sunny Saturday afternoon of our wedding. A reception and dinner were held later that evening at the historic Capital Hotel in downtown Little Rock, where the menu was inspired by locally grown produce.

A peacock feather and our favorite colors of green and blue were the inspiration for our wedding colors. As we were looking for venues, we found a beautiful peacock crafted from stained glass in a shop located in historic downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas. That artwork became the focal point for the color palette and decorations. We chose navy blue, teal green, and a shimmery white, and peacock-themed items were incorporated in the wedding invitations, programs, tablescapes, cakes and mementos. We honored Doug’s Scottish heritage by using an image of the family crest on the chocolate groom’s cupcakes. Leanne is originally from Brisbane, Australia, and her Taiwanese heritage inspired the Chinese take-out boxes filled with TimTams, an Australian cookie. Music was provided by Leanne’s Arkansas Symphony colleagues.
