Description: First off, let me thank you for your interest in my photography. My name is Brandon and I’m a native Oregonian. Recently, I expanded my business to Alaska where I plan to focus and shift about 25% of my work. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to work in the most beautiful, natural and wild state. Outside of Alaska, I shoot the remainder of my weddings in Oregon & Washington but am always available to travel for weddings throughout the world.
Prior to running Fotovitae, I studied entrepreneurship at the University of Oregon and photography was a pastime of mine. I have always been interested in running my own business and my degree has helped so much and really given me a great advantage over many of my photography peers. Perhaps more important than my degree, I met my future wife, Sunshine, my freshman year and we have been in love ever since (married in August ’06).
Following our graduation from the UofO, the two of us moved to Johannesburg, South Africa where Sunshine studied for her Master’s degree and I worked part-time for a non-profit and studied photography at the School of Photo. At the time, I never thought I would become a wedding photographer as most of my interest was in wildlife photography. I later found that interacting with people was what really makes being a photographer fulfilling. Since returning home and working for myself, I really believe I have one of the greatest jobs.
Currently, Sunshine and I live in Newberg but we both spend much of our time in Portland where Sunshine works and I meet with clients. While the drive isn’t always fun, we do come home to a big yard and a great community. This past year, we brought home our twin boys (Abdur & Nursun) from Ethiopia which has been an amazing and very fulfilling journey. Unfortunately for clients, I do require that they look at photos of my boys whenever we meet.
If you feel that my style is what you’re looking for, please contact me as I would love to show you some sample work and meet with you over a cup of coffee.
