Description: Welcome to Photographer RE. I am Richard Esposito, but feel free to call me Rick like my friends and family do! My wife, Kelley, and I love to travel during my free time throughout the year and for weddings. California is where we gravitate to. We got married in San Diego and travel to San Francisco often. We really enjoy the excitement of exploring new places and the ability to capture the uniqueness of each location through photography.
Here is my professional history that I publish when requested, followed by my personal history and achievements.
Photographer RE was created in July of 2003 after leaving a career in video editing to pursue a creative passion for photography. I am located in North Haven, CT, but travel throughout the United States. I am an international award winning photojournalist, specializing in wedding photography. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Modern Photographers, and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).
Having knowledge about the newest technology in my field is a must, especially in regard to professional digital cameras and computer technology. My creativity has enabled me to win four Emmy’s in my prior career as a feature story editor for NBC News in Boston. I have lectured to photographers from Connecticut to California showing my techniques in photography, editing, and organization. One of my newest ventures is incorporating video into my still photography, allowing the bride to relive her day in a custom edited movie. I am fortunate enough to have all of my satisfied clients referring my creative styling to their friends and family. Client referrals are what drive my business.
I was born in Boston, MA. My family moved to East Haven, Connecticut when I was a child. Having a background in the field of Broadcast Communications and Engineering, I started my career as a video editor for WTNH, News Channel 8, in New Haven, CT. In late 2001, I advanced my career with a position with WHDH-TV, NBC 7 News, in Boston. I quickly became the Special Projects Avid Editor. This position involved editing feature stories that aired in Boston and throughout the United States. In 2003, My work was nominated for multiple Emmy awards. I won the Emmy for my work as a feature story editor and was also credited with three more Emmy’s.
During my time in Boston I turned my career towards photographery. My first adventure as a photographer began when I was asked to photograph weddings with a local photography company. I started by capturing natural setting portraits, and was displaying my fine art collection. Shortly after, I joined a local art association for my first gallery member showing. I placed 2nd and 3rd in photography for my creative work. This enabled me to expand my work to be seen at international art galleries throughout New York City.
Fortunately, photography came naturally to me. To further broaden my eye for photography into an art, I attended several seminars with the worlds top wedding photographers across the United States. In the Spring of 2009, I spent 3 amazing days with Denis Reggie and Joe Buissink who are considered the top two wedding photographers in the world.
I created Photographer RE by simply asking myself: “As a client, what would I want and expect from a photographer?” My answer was simply the best available technology and product. That’s why I am continuously learning and growing as a photographer.
Photography Achievements: Since June of 2003, I have received awards and recognition at local, national, and international levels. I was one of 14 photographers chosen from around the world to have my creative art photography represented by the Agora Gallery in New York City. I have had one of my weddings featured in For The Bride magazine. For my most recent accomplishment I was honored with the Award of Excellence from the WPPI print competition in the spring of 2009. There have been many other awards in various competitions that were judge by other professional photographers.
